Celebrity hair stylist Natasha Sunshine-Antonioni celebrated the grand opening of ByuTi Salon’s second location in Brentwood, CA this past week. To kick-off the milestone, magazine editors and bloggers were invited to enjoy two complimentary signature services whether it be a haircut, blow dry, ByuTi Blender, eyebrow shaping or makeup application. Unable to pass up the opportunity (and curious to see what this new salon had to offer), I opted for a haircut and eyebrow shaping.

Upon arrival, I made my way to the second floor of 17740 San Vicente Boulevard and walked over to Suite 203. I waited in the lobby, which contained Asian flair and warm modernist tones. Ebony wood stations and chocolate leather chairs gave the salon a clean, posh feel. In the lobby, there was a wall dedicated to press clips and celebrity clients.

Hair stylist Lee Krislov greeted me and then we walked over to the changing station, similar to a spa experience. Instructed to change into a black robe, I was then escorted to the makeup station for my eyebrow shaping.

Colorist/Stylist Marisa Kerns hooked up my eyebrows

Marisa Kerns, a bubbly and very personable colorist/stylist hailing from San Diego, began waxing and taming my unkempt brows. The experience was painless, fast and made me realize that getting my eyebrows professionally done vs. doing it myself was a much better (and stress-free) experience. I wondered why I waited so long to do this. Additionally, when Kerns told me that my eyebrows had a “beautiful shape” and “all they needed was a good cleaning,” it made my day. Trust me, when you’ve spent years doing your own eyebrows, wondering if the left one was higher than the right, this is exactly what you want to hear.

As soon as we finished with the eyebrow shaping, Kerns brought me over to Lee Krislov, a funny, personable and uber professional stylist who made me feel like I was in good hands. However, sitting in the cutting station, I was still nervous and found myself mentally recalling every female celebrity’s haircut and style. I knew what I wanted last night, how could I have forgotten such an important decision? This was intense.

Colorist/Stylist Lee Krislov revamped and upgraded my hair

Lee Krislov asked me what style I wanted and putting his skills to the test, I replied, “I want something modern, perhaps layers but something that complements my face shape.” With a debonair confidence, he was up for the challenge and evaluated my current look. He explained that my hair was all one length and lacked the moisture that it should have. He assured me that he would fix the situation. After washing my locks and applying a minty leave in conditioner, he wrapped my hair in a warm towel to lock in the moisturizer. We headed over to the cutting station and already, I could see the difference.

As I sipped the herbal tea he made me, he began cutting. I started to see the finished product come into place and could tell my look was already being transformed to a more “modern” style. I thanked him for bringing me into 2012. See the finished product below:

Once the haircut was done, I sarcastically said, “Great, all I need to do now is throw on some makeup.” Krislov then brought me back to Kerns and I apologized, “Oh, I was just joking. I’m just going back to the office afterwards. There’s no need for full-on makeup.” They insisted, I caved and Mariska applied a soft, daytime look consisting of a bit of bronzer, shimmer and nude tones. I was satisfied and walked out with a full makeover.

In short, ByuTi Salon was nothing but professional, courteous and the entire experience was reminiscent to a spa day. Did I mention they have complimentary champagne on the weekend? The Brentwood salon will offer special packages, including complimentary treatments for new clients in addition to 20 percent off products and their next appointment.
