Some compilations are just collections of songs. Banana Split is something different. In one of our biggest interviews, we sat down with three bands simultaneously to discuss their new compilation.

Bringing together Children of Eden, Quid Punk Quo, and CFA (filling in for the absent Bate during our interview), the project celebrates what happens when bands choose collaboration over competition.

Watch the full interview:

The idea began as a way for multiple bands to release music together instead of waiting to finish full EPs. Along the way, it evolved into something much bigger: a snapshot of a local scene where every band brings its own sound while supporting one another.

Children of Eden contributes songs shaped by personal growth and modern disconnection. Quid Punk Quo balances heartfelt storytelling with energetic punk and ska influences, while CFA (filling in for Bate onstage), shared insight into their own recent releases and the highs and lows that inspired them. Despite each band sounding completely different, that contrast is exactly what makes Banana Split work.

The compilation was recorded at Blank Reel Studios in Riverside, CA, where the musicians praised the relaxed atmosphere created by engineers Jason Fierro and Daniel Archibeque. Every band described the experience as collaborative, comfortable, and focused on making the best music possible rather than racing through a recording session.

One of the standout details is the artwork. Designed by Children of Eden’s Mike, the cover imagines the bands together in a playful “Last Supper” parody set inside an ice cream shop, complete with nods to Andy Warhol-inspired pop art and classic ’90s punk compilation aesthetics. The illustration captures each musician’s personality while reinforcing the project’s central theme: different flavors coming together to create something memorable.

More than streams or sales, the bands measure success by introducing fans to artists they may never have discovered otherwise. If someone comes for one band but leaves listening to all three, the compilation has already accomplished its goal.

At its heart, Banana Split isn’t just about three bands sharing an album. It’s about building a stronger music community, proving that scenes grow when artists lift each other up instead of standing apart.
