My friend Melissa and I met at Akasha in Culver City, CA this past Saturday. Fast and attentive service paired with New American farm-to-table cuisine made this the perfect brunch spot.

The last time we saw each other was during our road trip to Pine Mountain Club two months ago. It was great catching up on the craziness of this current job market, and brainstorming new entrepreneurial ideas, while enjoying delicious food in rustic-chic setting.

We were right at the restaurant upon opening and our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Our meal started off with a chai latte with oat milk and Melissa had a latte with regular milk.

While waiting for our food, Melissa ordered a pistachio croissant and we split it. The flakey exterior, fluffy interior paired with pistachio filling, made for a great starter.

I ordered the breakfast burrito, which had chorizo, eggs, queso fresco, Akasha’s latke, red salsa, and lime crema. The portion was huge and I had half a burrito to take home. The chorizo was a bit spicy and it was paired with delicious salsa.

Melissa had the seasonal scramble, which consisted of roasted mushroom & kale, goat cheese, toast, and a side of potatoes. She cleaned her plate so it was a clear indication that the food was delicious.

After paying our bill, which was $68 all in with a 20% tip. One of the highlights of dining in downtown Culver City, is walking over to Trader Joe’s afterwards.

Overall, Akasha never disappoints and it’s a welcome favorite for friends and family.
