Located within the Westfield Century City mall, Tocaya Modern Mexico offers fresh, health-driven organic cuisine. The restaurant is a nice alternative to those inside the food court.
Upon entering the restaurant, my husband and I placed our orders at the counter. I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo paired with a Diet Coke. My husband Matt ordered the taco trio. We took our number and found a table.

For our appetizer, we ordered queso and chips. Unfortunately, the queso was extremely oily so we showed our server how the cheese would literally slip off the chip. I kept eating it as I was starving, but my husband warned me that I’d get a stomach ache. Luckily, our server brought out a second bowl of queso and it was PERFECT. We normally aren’t “Karen’s” but we had to speak up.

We also ordered the churro waffles, which came with a side of dipping syrup. To be honest, the syrup was bland and we wondered why it was oily. Thankfully, the actual waffles were amazingly crispy sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.
Our entrees finally arrived and my breakfast burrito was piping hot. Filled with beans, chorizo, eggs, grilled peppers, and a side of verde salsa, it did not disappoint. The portions were large enough to bring home.

My husband Matt ate his tacos so fast. The three tacos he ordered consisted of carne asada, chorizo, and a vegan option.
Overall, our dining experience had a rocky start but the entrees, corrected queso, and delicious dessert made for a great redeeming lunch.
