My husband and I have been watching vlogs by Dale Philip and in a recent video, he enjoyed Beef Haleem and Falooda. So, we ventured into Culver City, CA and decided to try it from Jasmine Market and Deli.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the smell of Indian spices and there was also a cute little market selling goods and mango lassi. We ordered exactly what blogger Dale Philips ate and we grabbed outdoor seats and waited.

The food arrived and it was spicy yet delicious.
Beef Haleem
Beef Haleem, a rich and savory Indian dish, is a dish that combines diverse flavors and textures. This hearty stew boasts a blend of tender beef, lentils, and cracked wheat, slow-cooked to perfection. Fragrant with aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves, Beef Haleem offers a symphony of tastes that dance on the palate.
The stew gains its creamy consistency from the slow-cooked, mashed lentils and wheat, creating a delightful porridge-like texture. Simmered with succulent pieces of beef, the Haleem absorbs the meat’s juices, infusing every spoonful with a robust flavor.
Garnished with fried onions, fresh coriander, and a drizzle of lemon, Beef Haleem is often enjoyed with naan or rice. This traditional Indian delicacy not only satiates hunger but also provides a soul-warming experience, making it a beloved choice for communal gatherings and festive occasions.
Aloo Puri
Aloo Puri, a popular Indian dish, is a delectable combination of unleavened deep-fried bread (puri) and spiced potato curry (aloo). The puris are small, round, and puffed, offering a crisp exterior that contrasts with the softness within. The aloo, or potato curry, is a savory blend of boiled potatoes infused with aromatic spices like cumin, coriander, and garam masala. This comforting dish is often served with sides like yogurt, chutney, or pickles, creating a harmonious balance of textures and flavors. Aloo Puri is a beloved choice for breakfast or a hearty meal, showcasing the rich diversity of Indian cuisine.
Falooda

Indian Falooda is a delightful, layered dessert that tantalizes taste buds with its diverse textures and flavors. Originating from Persian traditions, this chilled beverage-dessert fusion comprises rose syrup-soaked vermicelli, sweet basil seeds, and chewy tapioca pearls. Layered with silky milk, vibrant jelly, and crowned with a scoop of ice cream, Falooda offers a refreshing medley of tastes – floral, creamy, and subtly sweet. Garnished with chopped nuts and sometimes a sprinkle of cardamom, it is a visually appealing and indulgent treat enjoyed across India, especially during hot summer days. Falooda embodies the essence of a cool, sweet respite.
Overall, we definitely want to go back and try more dishes. The Falooda reminded me of Filipino Halo Halo without the rose syrup and ice.
