DJ 3LAU to Perform at The Fonda in Los Angeles, Dec. 14th

Justin Blau (3LAU / pronounced Blau) is an on the rise progressive house DJ/producer who will be playing December 14 at The Fonda; and has an engaging story. With the holiday season upon us, it’s good to give back to those less fortunate. Justin’s ethos and work with nonprofit Pencils of Promise really exemplifies this attitude. In his own words: “Let’s harness the power of the dance music movement to give something real: to give back.”

The idea to work with Pencils of Promise stemmed from Justin’s goal to combine his philanthropic interests with his love for dance music. 3LAU is adamant about giving back by working with the community that has catapulted his career. When 3LAU’s remix of “Back To New” came out on Beatport on April 30th, Justin pledged to donate all proceeds from the sale of the track to Pencils of Promise, a non-profit that builds schools in developing countries. He also committed to matching all purchases made on Beatport with $2.50 out of his own pocket until the goal of $25,000 was met. Within 48 hours of the song’s release, 3LAU achieved 20% of his goal and as of June 21 he had raised the entire $25,000 needed to build the first school. Groundbreaking recently began on the Justo Rufino Primary School in Guatemala.

3LAU will be donating $1 from every ticket of his L.A. show to Pencils of Promise, and has done so with other dates on his tour to raise money for the second school. His goal is to build 3 schools with his music for Pencils of Promise.

3LAU’s music has been gaining lots of attention in the electronic community, having been invited to share the stage with Avicii (who he reminds us of quite a bit) and playing the main stage at NYC’s Electric Zoo festival. He also ranks #3 on Beatport’s overall chart and has had an impressive 10 tracks reach the “Top 10” on Hype Machine.

Make sure to check him out on December 14th at The Fonda Theater. Here’s a taste of what you can expect:
