Filmmaker Spotlight: Adriano Valentini of CLUBSCENE Films

We recently caught up with Writer, Producer and Director Adriano Valentini to discuss CLUBSCENE: The Bartender, CLUBSCENE: The Under-Ager films, which were part of screenings for NewFilmmaker Los Angeles held at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, CA. Get to know Valentini and his projects:

Tell us a little bit about your project and how long you’ve been working on it.
The Bartender and The Under-Ager are both part of the CLUBSCENE series of films which started as my NYU thesis film.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank for helping out with this film?
Everyone who was involved in the film.  Everyone pretty much worked for free, so it really was a huge collaboration.
What inspires you?
When I see people going out and doing things and being successful against all odds, it’s inspiring and motivating.
What lessons have you learned from the industry so far?
Never give up.  The people who are successful are the people who don’t stop after one, or a hundred, rejections.  They keep going and eventually they succeed.
If you could collaborate with anybody, who would it be?
Judd Apatow. That would be amazing.
What is the toughest experience you’ve ever had to overcome?
Working construction for two summers – pouring concrete basements – to pay for my thesis film.  It was brutal.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given to you?
Be yourself.  Be truthful.
What advice would you give to new filmmakers starting out in the industry?
Just don’t talk about making a movie… just make it already.
Where can we expect to see you next?
I just finished directing a short film called Face Divided – produced by Christina Broccolini, and starring Christina Broccolini and Carmine DiBenedetto.  It’ll be hitting festivals this summer.
Let our readers know where they can find more information about you and your projects.
