Marsha Ambrosius and R&B star Miguel to Perform at Club Nokia, 10/17

Los Angeles’ CLUB NOKIA will be hosting a co-headlining performance by world-class vocalist & songwriter, Marsha Ambrosius and rising R&B star Miguel, Monday, October 17. Tickets for this show go on sale Saturday, September 10 at 10:00 AM.

Already proven as a talented, sought-after songwriter and revered platinum-selling artist, Marsha Ambrosius is meeting the next challenge in her already impressive musical career by reinventing herself as a solo artist with her J Records debut disc LATE NIGHTS & EARLY MORNINGS. Hailing from Liverpool, England, fans first got a taste of Marsha’s talent as the singing half of the duo Floetry. Their 2000 debut Floetic produced signature singles like “Say Yes” and “Getting Late” as well as four Grammy nominations. Following the 2005 release of their second studio album, Flo’Ology, the ladies veered creatively and personally. While the split was difficult, Marsha continued to build a name for herself as a songwriter and producer, creating “Butterflies” for the late Michael Jackson and other hits for artists such as Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx and Nas. She’s been nominated for a total of six Grammys and has been honored by BMI as their Songwriter of the Year. Over the years, Marsha has stayed relevant as an artist via touring, writing/producing and mixtapes like 2007’s Neo Soul is Dead, 2008’s Yours Truly and 2010’s Yours Sincerely. Now at a strong place, Marsha is ready to present her sound to the world. The first single, “Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player),” is an anthem that women and men can relate to.

Rising R&B star Miguel has been one of 2011’s most celebrated newcomers. With hits riding both Pop and R&B Billboard charts for weeks, he is hoping his sophomore release will keep up the momentum that his debut All I Want Is You built. The debut album included the hit single “All I Want Is You,” featuring rapper J. Cole. Billboard exclaims, Miguel, “offers both the sweetness of Babyface and the passion of R. Kelly.” Penning Asher Roth’s “His Dream,” Mary J. Blige and Musiq’s “If U Leave,” and co-writing on Usher’s Raymond V Raymond album, Miguel says, “For me, writing is like making steak and potatoes into a Happy Meal—how do I work in that substance but keep you coming back for more?” With the album tracks on his ByStorm/Jive debut, All I Want Is You, Miguel certainly delivers. Through his longtime partnership with LA-based underground stalwarts Fisticuffs, and his visits with veteran boardsmen such as Salaam Remi and Dre & Vidal, Miguel has cooked up a truly genre-bending mélange of sounds. With more than 8 million plays on MySpace, his second single “Sure Thing” has also captivated fans.
